THE COUNTDOWN IS ON FOR SECONDBITE’S ONE MILLION MEALS DAY
Wednesday 16th October 2024
On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, SecondBite is launching their inaugural Million Meals Day! The goal is to raise enough funds in just 12 hours to provide one million meals. Your donation will be matched by several of SecondBite’s generous partners, including PonyUp for Good. That means, if you donate $50, we will match another $50, resulting in a $100 donation - meaning donations will go twice as far and have twice the impact for hungry Australians.

For almost 20 years, SecondBite has worked to deliver quality, surplus food to the people who need it most. And they do this for free.
However, the cost-of-living crisis and increased demand for food has placed enormous strain on SecondBite and the charity partners they work with. Food insecurity is now an issue that fundamentally matters to everyone in the community, rather than just being a problem experienced by a few.
Almost six in ten Australians (56%) say they have had to make difficult choices between buying food and paying for other expenses, due to limited financial resources. That’s more than 14 million Aussies who are struggling to make ends meet every day!
Want to turn your company's decommissioned & SURPLUS technology into healthy meals for people doing it tough?
PonyUp for Good is a Certified Social Enterprise & Engagement Agency, providing secure & sustainable collection & data destruction services for some of Australia’s largest and most innovative businesses.
We remove your company's donated, decommissioned technology - securely data erase it and re-market it, with a 'reuse first mandate' - keeping toxic chemicals out of our landfill and waterways.
The MAJOR KICKER - 50% of PonyUp's profits are donated to SecondBite, Australia's fresh food crusaders, who last year, rescued 25 million kilograms of fresh food and redistributed it to over 1000 food programs nationally. That's over 155,000 healthy meals a day.
Did you know we create 50 MILLION tonnes of e-waste globally every year? We also throw away $8 BILLION dollars of fresh edible food here in Australia, while 4 MILLION Australians go hungry.
We think this is rubbish - and we're doing something about it!
GOT IT! HOW can WE PONYUP?

Latisha’s Story with SecondBite
The past few years have highlighted to us that anyone can find themselves in a position of needing food relief. Australians are under significant financial pressure with the current cost of living, meaning that some people are having to make tough choices about what fundamental necessities (such as food, medication, housing and heating) they can afford and what they go without.
Food is often the first necessity financially vulnerable Australians sacrifice, seeing it as somehow more expendable than other important needs like rent, petrol or medicine. SecondBite's work reduces the need for Australians to make these difficult choices.
Latisha is a single mother of three school- and pre-school aged children. She shared her story of how support from House of Refuge in Hallam, Victoria meant her family did not have to go hungry after receiving food provided by SecondBite.
